Big STUDENT WELCOME 2022
We are so excited to welcome students to City Church!
We are planning a range of events for September 2022 and we would love to meet you!

STUDENTPLUS 2022 LAUNCH
Come along to our evening service, and then join us for food, live music, new friends, and a taste of what's to come in the next few months!
25th September 6PM
Edgbaston High School for Girls

Studentplus
StudentPlus is the heart of our student community. Each week at 4.30pm on Sundays we gather in small groups for snacks, to study the Bible and help each other discover Jesus and live for Him. We then go together to the evening service.
StudentPlus is a great way to form deep friendships and help one another grow as we dig into God’s life-changing word together. StudentPlus starts with our launch event on 25th September (after the evening service!)

"Student Plus played a huge role in settling in at the beginning of uni. Being surrounded by like-minded students and leaders was such an encouragement and to be able to establish real, honest, meaningful relationships with people that early on in University life helped me so much."
Zach Copes, 4th year Maths, UoB
what else do we have for students?
1-2-1s
Meet up regularly with an older Christian – and maybe one or two other students – to study the Bible, chat and pray together. A fantastic way to grow.
Hospitality
There’s more to life (and church) than students! Hospitality will help you get to know the wider church family by connecting you with a church family for some ‘normal’ life in a busy term – often Sunday lunch after church. The church family are super excited to meet you!
Student weekend away
Always a highlight of the year! Every January we head away for a few days to the lovely Shropshire countryside to relax, get to know each other better, and hear God speak through His word.
Guys' and girls' getaways
The only way to start your summer! After exams are done we head off for a few days to stretch our minds, read a good book, enjoy great food and relax together.

"1-2-1s are absolutely great! It's a fantastic chance to regularly meet someone else in the church family and get to know them at a deeper level. It’s a good time to relax a bit and look at the Bible or a Christian book whilst sharing a coffee together. I would thoroughly recommend 121s!"
Nat Lowis, 3rd year Computer Science, UoB
"The weekend away was the best thing ever! I didn't know a lot of people at church when we went but getting to spend a lot of time with everyone really helped me to deepen friendships. Having time to dig into God's word helped me grow stronger in my faith and push my own worries aside."
Morgan Harrison, 3rd year Costume Design and Making, BCU

International students @ City
International students from all countries, faiths, and cultures are welcome to join any City Church service and any of our student activities. Normally we also host a weekly meal and Bible discussion close to the UoB campus especially for international students – those who would like to know more about the Christian faith, and those who are already Christians looking for a community of believers. This group is particularly helpful for those whose level of English makes StudentPlus difficult.
To find out more, or to get in touch with our international student team, email Emma on emmanieuwoudt98@gmail.com.
Some members of City Church are working together with other Christians in Birmingham to provide a range of activities for international students through an organisation called Friends International. Their current programme of activities can be found on isbham.org.

"As an international student, I was able to find a real home and spiritual family at City. I was unable to go back to my home country during the lockdown, but the online interactive Bible studies and discussion groups hosted by City meant that I felt as connected as possible to the church, which was a huge comfort. I was also put into touch with a 1-2-1, with whom I was able to form a close bond. I knew that I would always have someone to talk to at City."
Simònne Viljoen, 2nd year Music, Birmingham Conservatoire
